In love with a goldfish... by Biev

June 24th, 2008 (Bonne St-Jean-Baptiste!)

Why a goldfish? Two reasons. One : I'm sick of skipping updates. I decided I needed to at least post SOMETHING. I grabbed some chalk, and decided to let whatever I felt come out on paper. Which, I guess, brings me to reason two... I'm in love with someone who reminds me of a goldfish. I'm sure she'd be mad if she knew I said that, but it's true. It sounds funny, but I mean it in a completely endearing way. And what can I say, these feelings are on my mind all the time, I had to let them out somehow.

Now, about the lack of activity here in the past months. I'm not gonna apologize, cause that gets old (and anyway completing this project isn't something I owe to anyone but myself), but I want to let you know that I'm frustrated as hell for not having been able to keep up with updates since I moved back to Quebec. The entire second half of my story is in the back of my head screaming in agony and I can't shut it up. I do need to keep you guys up to date with the situation though :

First, I've finally changed hosts. Now finally for the first time in six months, everyone is able to access the website (including me, it was about damn time >_<) and there shouldn't be any more problems with servers going down, pages disappearing and so on. So that's the good news. The side sections are outdated and there are still a few buggy pages on chapter 8, but I'm not bothering fixing them up right now because I'm in the process of remaking the site using wordpress. It's just gotten too big for me to program all by hand (especially since I've lost Dreamweaver and I'm just doing this oldschool, in a text file)

So here is what still needs to be done before updates can resume :

- For starters, I have to figure out how to mess with the wordpress themes. I'm new at this, and I've got my work cut out for me if I want to keep the archives organized in a thumbnail system, which I do.

- Then I have to actually make the site, of course. That part shouldn't take long once I manage to tweak the theme into the design I want.

- Then...Wait, that's it? *thinks for a while* ...Yeah! That's all I have left to do! Then I'm going back to DRAWING. Today's filler is the first thing I've drawn in... hell, I can't even remember how long. The transition into the next book should take three pages at the most, and then I get to make things move. It's inhuman to leave my characters in this state for this long!>

Ah, one last thing. I'm gonna be realistic here. With me pretty much working two jobs, there is NO WAY that I will be able to continue updating the way I did before. I'm gonna be able to spend 5 or 6 hours a week on this project at the most, when it used to take up three full days. But for now, I want to try to keep the Tuesday / Thursday schedule. I know I can't realistically come up with two new pages in a single evening, so Tuesdays will be reserved for fillers. They might be bits of other, much less demanding projects, character art (I really do need the practice, especially now that I haven't drawn them for a while), random drawings like today's, new shirt designs for the online store I'm gonna be launching soon, or if I'm lucky enough, guest art. I do have to find time to continue writing the novel version of Fainting Spells in French... among other things.

Seriously though, I can do this. I have OCD, so you must not underestimate my insane organizational skills : P
